  • Christmas Fair - Saturday 3rd December

Tue 22 Nov 2022 Mr Devine

A date for your diary and a message from the School Council

    Dear Parents/Carers,

On Saturday 3rd December, St Bartholomew's Church will hold its Christmas Fair.

At the Christmas Fair, there will be a Toy Stall which the School Council are collecting 'nearly new' donations for - so if any of our children have any Toys, Teddies, or Books that they would be willing to donate and have been gently used then we kindly ask that children bring these into school and our school council will be collecting donations from tomorrow until Friday 2nd December.

    Many Thanks,

    The Redeemer School Council

    Good morning all,

on a bright and fine start to the weekend. This morning we have waved off one of our Year 6 classes as they begin their residential trip in the Lake District. We wish them and the parallel Year 6 class (setting off later in the week) a time full of activities, laughter and memories to cherish! On behalf of the children, please can I thank my colleagues, who are continuing to work during their weekends, and so enable our children to participate in such wonderful opportunities, in a truly stunning location.

    God bless,

  • Remembrance Day

Fri 11 Nov 2022 Mr Devine

    Friday 11th November 2022

    Dear Parents/Carers,

Today, our school day started with a really moving worship led by our friend and school Governor Mr. Geoff Hutchinson, Geoff then went on to deliver workshops to pupils in Key Stage Two discussing his own experiences and military artifacts.

Following this, Children from Year 5 and 6 were invited to represent our school at The Royal Blackburn Hospital Service of Remembrance, after recently completing Remembrance Day-themed work that the Veteran team at the hospital displayed. During the service, Logan from Year 6 performed a poem beautifully and all pupils involved made us incredibly proud.

"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
    We will remember them."

    Take care, and God Bless.

    Mr. Devine

    Headteacher Update

Today, Chris our Vicar, Bishop Tony, our governors, and all of our school community celebrated the official federation of St. Stephen’s Tockholes and The Redeemer C.E. Primary Schools. It was a wonderful service of prayer, praise and beautiful singing. I hope that we all felt truly blessed! The vocation of teaching and nurturing children is in equal measure - a huge privilege and a huge responsibility. Personally, I feel an enormous sense of gratitude and joy, to be working with, and surrounded by, such a ‘good to the core’ team. This was my prayer at the service today. It is also my 'ongoing' prayer.

    Dear Lord,
St. Paul compares the church to the Body of Christ – as we celebrate the official federation of our church schools of St. Stephen’s Tockholes and The Redeemer Blackburn, we remember that we are each a part of this body, and we say thank you. We thank God for the gifts given to and freely shared by: the Governors, the parents and friends, the wider community, the teaching team and the pupils. We ask God that by supporting, encouraging and working together, we are always guided by Jesus, who is the head of the church, so that our schools may be united, and be built on the life-giving love of Jesus.
    Amen

Finally, my thanks to you all.
To Bishop Tony – thank you so much for taking time out of your very busy schedule and for leading our celebration with us all today. It was a JOY. Thank you.
To the parents, carers, family members and friends, who offer so much support to school on a daily basis. Who work tirelessly with us here at school to help ensure our children have the best education possible. Thank you
To the Governors, for their strategic guidance and support in the running of our two wonderful schools. It’s astounding the amount of time that Governors volunteer to help run both establishments, all freely, no pay. Thank you
To all our staff. Literally the very best staff in any school, anywhere! You little people are so lucky to have such supportive, hardworking, and dedicated adults working with you each and every day. Thank you.
Finally, to our pupils. Thank you for being you. You make us smile on a daily basis by being so unique and so amazing! Keep smiling and keep being you. Every one of you matters. Every one of you has a role to play. Every one of you makes a difference because you are our future. Thank you.

Have a great weekend, see you all Monday.
    God bless
    M.Power
