  • Coronation 'Community' Celebration

Tue 02 May 2023 Mr Devine

Wow – wow – wow! What a service we had today, to celebrate the forthcoming Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III and Her Majesty Camilla Queen Consort at Westminster Abbey! As we shared this celebration together, I hope that all felt warmly welcomed to The Redeemer.
The Coronation on Saturday 6th May will have as its key themes – community, diversity, sustainability and youth. These are probably four of the most important words in the dictionary: community – the idea of togetherness, diversity - how we embrace differences, sustainability - how we look after our world, and youth - well that needs no explanation – just look around at all the smiling faces.

We hope that in our service led by our youth, we all felt a sense of common unity as we shared the diverse talents of our children.
Grateful thanks goes to all our VIPs – that is…
Our Very Important Persons: the Mayor of Blackburn, Deputy Lieutenant Charles Hadcock and Sir Jake Berry MP.
Our Very Important Parishioners and Governors - our extended family.
Our Very Important Parents and carers – the heartbeat of our school.
Our Very Important Professors – colleagues who helped create such a memorable celebration.
    And last but not least…
Our Very Important Pupils - the Coronation Generation - who in our service created a moment of joyful history, with their drama, reading and singing.

Finally, I would like to end with the words of Maya Angelou, a civil rights activist, “We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what their colour.” We hope that The Redeemer continues to weave diverse threads in the creation of an ever-rich tapestry. King Charles as Head of the Church of England is led by the teaching of Our Lord – who came to serve and to save all.

We pray that King Charles III has a long and healthy reign serving all.

Have a wonderful Bank Holiday Weekend!!

  • Parents Evening - Spring

Mon 13 Mar 2023 Mr Devine

    Dear Parents/Carers,

Thank you to all those parents/carers and family members who joined us last half term for our Open Afternoon.

It was a really successful afternoon and it was a wonderful opportunity for our pupils to showcase their recent Design Technology projects, for you to have a look at work completed in exercise books, take a tour of our wonderful school and for you to meet with your child’s class teacher for an informal discussion. We hope you found the Open Afternoon useful and that it provided you with a greater opportunity to look at your child’s work and exercise books.

On Wednesday 22nd March 2023 we will host our Spring Term Parents Evening, this will run from 1:30pm until 7:00pm in the school hall and church. We have made the decision to start earlier to allow extended appointments of 8 minutes. Parents should access Parents Evening through the Church entrance, and there will be a waiting area in Church, where possible pupils should not attend the Parents Evening to allow Teachers the time to discuss your child’s progress since September.

The school has an ‘easy to use’ online booking system. This allows you to choose your own appointment time with your child’s class teacher and on completion you will receive an email confirming your appointment.

Appointments will go live from Tuesday 14th March 2023 at 8am and will close on Wednesday 22nd March 2023 at 11am. Appointments must be made using the link below: https://blackburn.schoolcloud.co.uk/

  • Industrial Action National Education Union

Tue 24 Jan 2023 Mr Power

    Dear parents/carers,

You may be aware from media coverage that the National Education Union (NEU) have declared strike action, which is due to take place on Wednesday 1st February, Tuesday 28th February, Wednesday 15th March and Thursday 16th March. The strike is happening because of a national dispute between the unions and the government and not because of any issues at our school.

It is our intention that The Redeemer C.E. Primary School will be open as normal on these dates, including breakfast club and The Out of School Experience (TOOSE). There may be some disruption to the normal curriculum, and class arrangements on the above dates but we will do our utmost to minimise this.

If there are any further updates I will keep you informed.

    Kind regards,

    M. Power

  • Christmas Fair - Saturday 3rd December

Tue 22 Nov 2022 Mr Devine

A date for your diary and a message from the School Council

    Dear Parents/Carers,

On Saturday 3rd December, St Bartholomew's Church will hold its Christmas Fair.

At the Christmas Fair, there will be a Toy Stall which the School Council are collecting 'nearly new' donations for - so if any of our children have any Toys, Teddies, or Books that they would be willing to donate and have been gently used then we kindly ask that children bring these into school and our school council will be collecting donations from tomorrow until Friday 2nd December.

    Many Thanks,

    The Redeemer School Council
